Need help recovering data from hard drive.

I need to recover data from a hard drive that was in a XP machine. This machine has a bad motherboard and will not even post. My question is this: can I read the data from the hard drive using my backup computer that runs W98se? I'm not sure if the XP hard drive was formated NTFS or fat32. I would set the XP hard drive as a slave drive.

just put the harddrive in as a slave and recover the data that way...its a sinch.
