I graduated with some shitty ass GPA.

Then I realized the real world don't give a fuck. I got a job fine and was promoted within 7 months (after working hard).

How can you compare the two? The US, let alone of other countries, do not recognize both.

PM Casiotech. I'm sure he'd be happy to write a complaint letter to your Dean about this incompetent professor.

if you're grades were in limbo, perhaps waiting for the grades to come out then going on vacation woulda been a better choice.

I was taking an accounting course. had a solid A going into the finals (received a B in final). report card comes and i have a D in the class.

i was ticked off. i called the professor and she said if thats what you got thats what you got.

i had to go to appeal the professor said the i deserved the grade. they agreed with her. they wouldn't even look at my grades just her word. Finally i had a hearing where they looked at her grade book my final etc. they couldn't see how i could get a D either. Finally she had to admit she made a mistake.

So let me get this straight... You got a C, and it is beyond a deadline at which you could have whined and cried about it and gotten a B. Your friends did whine and received a B. Now, since you were out of town you think you should get a chance to whine, cry, and pout even though it is past the deadline?

Suck it up. You probably deserved a C, that's why you got one. Just because your friends are a bunch of cry babies doesn't mean you have to be. Work harder next time.

right after I graduated, I got a B in a class I should have gotten an A in... I had an A going into the final and there's no way in hell I could have done *that* badly on it to lower my letter grade that much.

I was pretty annoyed about it at the time, but 4 years later? meh. doesn't really bother me.

honestly, the only grade from college that still bothers me is the C I got in poetry workshop.

I would have been pissed about a C in poetry as well. I mean....if I didn't get an F in a class like that, I'd have to cut up my man card.

whatever dude, i took poetry to satisfy my Literature core requirement.

my biggest reading assignment was like 3 pages.

The first thing you need to learn about college is that NOTHING... and I mean NOTHING is set in stone EVER. A new grade might not be changed until next term, but it CAN be changed. That being said, it is possible for you to not have a REASON to have something changed.

The second thing you need to learn is that the biggest reason a professor won't change a grade is because you didn't bother asking them.

You need to schedule an appointment with your professor first. Don't show up with out an appointment. They hate that and will likely hold it against you. You need to ask to review your grades and final exam. If, in fact, you find that you DID earn a C and not a B, you're pretty much at their mercy. You can ask if there is anything you can do to get the better grade, but don't be surprised if they give you some large, daunting task to perform just to get a B-. There IS a chance it was just a goof-up on his/her part, but if not, you can't expect an unfair advantage against anyone else in the class.

Also, keep in mind that even if you go to the dean of anything they're gonna talk to the professor before they even CONSIDER you to be anything but a cry baby.

If you've already determined what you are going to do, why ask here??

So you need a B- Average and there is a chance a C can ruin that? Sounds like you are C student, otherwise one C wouldn't cause you to drop below a B-. You got what you deserved and are capable of.

Apparently, you were not to concerned until after you found out that the grade could be manipulated.

Be a man and take responsibilty for your actions

If your professor feels you deserve a "C", then speaking as a former college instructor, you are screwed.

We were given pretty much absolute and complete autonomy when it came to how we handed out grades. We weren't
even required to show how we came up with the grade we assigned, unless the grade was appealed-- in which
case, we could make up whatever grading criteria we wanted ex post facto to justify the grade.

If you had an ahole professor it can be somewhat unfair, but most professors make their grading policies clear at the start
of the semester.

Bottom line is, if you have a problem with your grade, take it up with your prof and pray he has mercy. Otherwise, learn to get over it.
It certainly won't be the last time you'll be denied something you thought you earned, so let that motivate you to do even better next
time around so you simply cannot be denied.

^This. Students come and complain to me about grades all the time, and I'm just a TA who has no power to actually do anything. Fact is, ask the instructor, see if they made a mistake. If they did, you'll have the instructor on your side when dealing with the registrar's office. If it's not a mistake, suck it up.

Were you in a third world country with no Internet or phones? How did you not find out your grade before you got back?

Aren't you the one that didn't study at all for some economics final then made a panicky post about it here?

Blah Blah Blah everyone says you're whining. Blah Blah Blah. Here's what you need to do. Go to your prof and ask what happened to your grade. Explain that you were out of the country so you couldn't talk to him earlier. Don't demand a change or go in with an attitude or you'll get turned down instantly. Depending on your dept and professor, they'll work with you and get things sorted out without too much trouble.

I emailed my student advisor and they said they cannot do anything because the last day has passed. I'm on hold with the registrar's office right now, what can i do? Any advice? A few of my friends also recieved the same mark and told me after appealing recieved B+'s.

I'm getting frustrated, what can i do?

There was a little asshole family that's kid went overseas during the time a major report was to be turned in...she got an F.

As it should be.
