Keywords in Topic Summary.

Premise was the discovery of some kind of symbiotic, invasive orgranism. It allowed resurrection / regeneration from death. The use of this creature was widely adopted and developed into a religion, controlling space travel. Interstellar travel was developed, but the acceleration was such that it turned the passengers into goo; only by use of this organism could they be brought back at the end of their journey.

Thanks in advance.

Hyperion/Fall of Hyperion/Endymion/Rise of Endymion. Great books.

I particularly enjoyed the Abraham dilemma in the first two.

Thanks, but I don't think that was it. Far future, space travel is where I'm aiming for. But I did enjoy the Preston/Child novels =)
