Need help reading military address

I'm confused on the bold part. Is this address in the US or is it a military base outside of the US? I googled and didn't find much info.

78th Signal Battalion
APO, AP 96338-5012

APO, AP just connotes that it is passing through the Pacific (AP), rather than Europe (AE), but doesn't really indicate where it is actually going. From the standpoint of the sender it is the same as sending to a US address, and it shouldn't cost more.

Thanks, so if I send something to this address, it's like paying for overseas shipping?

IIRC when I shipped some stuff to Afghanistan it did NOT cost extra.

I just had to fill out a customs form.

I had to deal with this when I was living overseas w/ parents and now when I want to send them stuff. The cost is the same as shipping it to someplace in the US since technically you're still shipping "within" the US. The APO AP means Army Post Office (APO) and then Pacific (AP) like Don Vito said.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I read more on this and saw that it's pretty much the same as domestic, just longer delivery time.
