Still having some trouble with this memory check.. upon installing my new 128MB PC133 SDRAM to compliment my existing 64MB PC100 SDRAM... i CAN NOT get the memory check to count the correct total.. its is always 64MB and never more.. even after adding a second stick of 64MBSDRAM *PC100* it still counts no higher...
i have updated my bios.. and i dont have a clue what else i can do
i have switched all the sticks around in all the possible slots..

thx

Usually when the BIOS cannont count all the RAM you've supposedly put it, it means one of following, the module type cannot be used with board, or the stick is bad. Have you removed your current 64MB and then put in the 128 and booted up? Does it still only count to 64? If so, that would mean that way the RAM is split on the chip isn't supported by your motherboard, ie. 8MB*16 etc.. Also what are you system specs, ie. Motherboard etc..

Maybe you are reading what the video bios is telling you(the amont of memeory on your video card not your system)

Tharyn.. in response to what you said.. yes i have tried 128MB and got only 64 at the memory count..
BUT
i have worked with this RAM before.. and I HAVE gotten 128MB RAM.. and even a couple times 192MBRAM. *64 and 128* but it didnt remain after a few reboots

it may max at 64, or the largest stick that can go in is 64. I put in a 128 mb stick in my Dell P200 MMX and it would only count 32 megs of the stick. It was a very early SDRAM system, and maxed with 2 32 meg sticks, which was considered low even back then (most systems maxed at 128). But your board may only be able to handle 64 megs of ram on each stick.

Also you need to disable quick boot in BIOS (don't know if your board has this or not) for it to count all the RAM, then you can go back and re-enable it.

try flashing the BIOS, or maybe the motherboard can only max handle 64 megs of ram per stick. Look on FIC's website - it will tell you I think.

heh, I had a stick of Kinston ValueRAM (128 MB) that I could not getting working with my motherboard (Asus K7M). After messing with it for a long time, somehow I was able to get it to work. It worked for one day then quit working, and I couldn't get it to work again. I placed the RAM in a differnet machine, recognized it right away. So I swapped the Kingston RAM with the RAM that was in the other machine (also 128 mb) and both machines have been fine since. Guess my Asus K7M is a picky bastard :)
