I'm glad I didn't get the fop38, and I have to admit that the 32 is not that loud, but the high-pitched whine I'm getting is getting annoying very quickly. I'm considering getting a quieter fan to replace the ystech, but I think the sound is not created by the fan alone (I took the fan off the hs and ran it by itself and could not detect any whining). Any suggestions?

i wouldn't suggest running it w/o the fan..but what you could do, is get a 60mm to 80mm fan adapter, and get a quiet 80mm fan that'll do the exact same job. try it out. there are a few people selling them on teh fs/t forums..

Good suggestion, but I don't have enough clearance from my ps to put anything else on my heatsink.

Go with a simpler 60 to 80mm adapter then. Simple by using a 80mm fan grill and using the FOP fan clips to clip onto that, and screw your 80mm fan onto that grill.
Easier way would just to buy a quiet 60mm fan, from adda, papst or whatever...
