Hmm... hell if I know... a big one.

if it makes you feel any better, there's only 2 spiders in North America that can be fatal - the black widow and brown recluse, and that spider's neither of them. So, at least it wont kill you :)

I don't know what kind of spider it is but there was one that looked like it in my iguanas cage yesterday and as I grabbed something to grab it and throw it outside with my ig ate it. i was afraid he'd get sick or something but he seems to be alright.

So you don't see more than one at a time do you? I wonder where they're crawling in from, if you knew the point of entry you could spray that or caulk it up or something.

Crawling on the wall right above your head? That's some freaky sh!t, I'd be scared sh!tless about it falling Mission Impossible style onto my head, biting me a few times then running back home. Or crawling into your mouth when you feel something tickling your tongue your jaw crushes it and you swallow it on accident or it crawls into your ear and oh I'm scaring myself gotta stop.

Eww!

Kill it and leave it on the wall... one of two things will happen.

1. It will send a message and all the other spiders will leave you alone.

(or)

2. You will have killed the younger brother of the leader of the spider mafia and you'll be dead in the morning.

Cross your fingers for 1.

Seems to be on a flat surface... wall... so just squish it... you're much bigger than it.. so just slap it with tissue and smear him... make sure he dies... because if he's still alive he'll fall to the ground... which won't be good, and if your carpet is as dark as mine... it'd be real hard to track :(

Good luck

Nasty!! I hate when spiders crawl over my head, especially something that looks like that. We get these ugly black spiders here that drive me nuts. It never fails, I'll be laying in bed watching TV with the lights out, drifting to sleep, and out of the corner of my eye I see something move on the ceiling, look up and a big nasty black spider is up there. One time I tried to kill one of the little bastards that was doing that, and it fell onto my bed before I had a chance!! I freaked, and started ripping the sheets and blankets off my bed, and took them outside to shake them. Never did find that thing.

That isn't true, its just an old wives tale. I read an article on a site that refutes that with scientific facts, can't remember where though.

this will help in determining what it is:

"This is because of a characteristic fiddle-shaped pattern they have on their head region. The spider is golden brown with the fiddle being dark brown or black. This spider is not hairy and the fiddle pattern is often shiny. They are about 1/4 to 3/4 inch long."

can't tell by the photo-- do you see any pattern?

Hell, there have been instances of the BR being in Alaska and they are DEFINETLY not native here.
