i like cooking eastern food, its easy to add your own flair and make it exactly how you like it. otherwise, you can never go wrong with make your own fajitas, make for a fun date, creates conversation, and minimal prep.

oh and fettucini alfredo is just as easy as speghetti to make but seems much classier on your part...if thats what you are going for. pick a white wine to go with that, possibly a Viognier or Pinot Grigio

So basically I have the house to myself for the next couple of days, (22 year old college student, lives with parents) and my girlfriend doesn't think I can cook, actually she knows I can't cook.. But, she somehow talked her way into me making her dinner tonight. I can nuke a mean mac and cheese, but thats about it (one of the reasons for moving home, good cook in residence). Thus I need to come up with something, like an overall meal that will at least prove her wrong about my culinary abilities..
Its got to be somewhat cheap, (together 3+ years, cheap is fine at this point, already got into the cookie jar) and realitively goof proof... I have looked through this site for recipes and the multitude of recipes online.. but still have no ideas what to do..
Any ideas? Recipes? Thoughts? Wicked Insights?

Lucca brand frozen ravioli. boil water, put them in, wait until most of them are floating (5 min), strain water out, serve. BAM! taste pretty good, too.
french bread. cut, serve. BAM!
brocoli. rinse with water, cut up into chunks, put 1/2" water in a pot, bring to boil, put in brocoli (best if you have a strainer thingie that hold them up out of water), cook for maybe 5 minutes or so. poke one with a fork and see if it is soft enough to meet your taste. take off burner. serve. BAM!
champange. take out cork. don't kill yourself doing it. BAM! (pun intended... twice, if you think about what will happen later than night!).
BAM!
