Hi, I just reinstalled Windows 2000. I installed the newest ATI drivers for my Radeon LE card. However, as soon as my computer rebooted after the install, it just went to a black screen. I had to get into safe mode to uninstall the drivers. I was hoping if anybody knew any better driver versions to install. Thanks for the help.

Upgraded aTI drivers are tough to handle. I've had the same experience as yours and it usually takes at least three reboots to the the driver working right. Change your video driver to Standard VGA PCI and then reboot. Upon reboot check device manager to find out if the ati card was detected. If it's detected it should have a Yelllow ! on it. Now Install the new ATI drivers. As installation it'll request for a reboot. Click no and then go back to DM and remove the VGA driver. The screen will blank off then do a warm reboot with the "three finger salute" or cold reboot with the reset button. If it's blank after the reboot, give it another cold boot. After three times and it's still the same then you might need to try another driver version.

Thanks for actually replying, Jiggz. It was actually the newest drivers from ATI that were giving me all the problems. I installed the alternate older version and everything seems to be working fine. But i'm not too happy about all the time I spent trying to fix it. ATI should really test their drivers before releasing them.
