I just found out (yes, on a Sunday) that I have a 2 hour panel interview on Wednesday with three managers and I need help preparing for it. It's for a job that I really hope to get. My problem is I've been with my current company for 9 years and even when I interviewed for that position it was a joke. This position is going to be a good step up with a different company. It's for a technical job (I repair expensive instrumentation) so I'm sure some technical questions will be asked.

My thinking is to copy and paste questions from sites that offer "The 50 most common interview questions" in Word, answer them, and then study my answers so that if they do ask one of these questions I'll have a premeditated response ready and the response that I want them to hear. I remember 9 years ago starting down an answer path that I didn't want but I kept going with it. I did get the job, but after the interview I was mad at myself for answering that question so poorly.

Thanks for any input.

Lots of people will be able to answer their questions. What will differentiate you is the quality of questions that you ask.

I know many people that work for this company doing the same job. I've asked them pretty much everything I've wanted to know. What would look good to an interviewer?

Things that make them think. Things about your future and the company's direction. Anything smart that they didn't prepare for.
