you sure can...just don't format c: /s (format with system files)

the same applies to installing 98 off a 95 boot disk.

you should be good to go though, just boot with cd-rom support and go to town
 
actually i need to reinstall windows 95 because one windows file is missing and it wont start windows, can you tell me please what steps i need to do in order just reinstall windows 95 and saving all data
 
you can pull all your files into c:\somefolder

when you are in dos you can deltree c:\windows. then you can use your boot disk and install window 95. its always better to format the whole drive but that will work.
