Need help - pins in socket

When installing my 2500k in the mobo tonight, i initially didn't have the mounting plate under the screw. Don't think I pushed down too hard before I realized my retarded mistake. I then seated it correctly.

Out of curiosity, I lifted the mounting plate and looked in the socket, noticing that all the pins were uniformly mashed towards the top of the socket.

Is this a normal part of the seating process? There is quite a bit of pressure once you close the lever, i assume that the pins are no longer supposed to be upright and mashed to gain a better contact with the processor. Or did I somehow noob it up and crush all of the pins?

It would be an expensive price to pay for being inattentive...

Thanks!

The pins should look like this:
