need help picking out cell phone and provider in los angeles/long beach area...

i need a new phone and new provider plan as i pay way too much for my nextel and dont even use it that much. im looking for something in the area of $20 maybe. all i really need is the phone service.

verizon has the absolute best coverage in all of california and probably the US. I live in LA and have never had a dropped call or deap spot.
 
hmm...does anyone know if i-tmobile is any good in this area? they're the only ones ive found so far with a 20 a month pricing plan.
 
T-mobile fine. Cingular fine. ATT fine. I haven't found anything bad in So Cal myself, except Sprint.

Just find something that works at your workplace and your home and you should be good.
 
I've only had experience with T-Mobile and Cingular. All I can say is that they work fine. Never had a call dropped before.
 
I have Sprint and it works great. My friend, who goes to Cal State LB has ATT prepay and says his service is terrible. I would recommend Sprint or Verizon without hesitation.
