Need help picking a speech topic.

Title says it all. I need to pick a topic for a "persuasive speech based on fact or value".

At first I was going to a speech persuading people that we faked the moon landing, figured it'd be a fun topic. But, it's hard to find sources that are credible that back it up. I don't believe it, just thought it wouldve been fun. So now i have no idea what my topic could be?

Any suggestions ATOT?

The United States keeping it's policy of keeping military bases around the world will lead to nuclear war.

I was in the high school debate team a decent bit back. There are 15 scenarios that I can think of his happening with evidence to back it up.

It's such a fun argument to run with.

1) Social Media and the Ruination of Society
2) Internet Culture: Yes, You Can Haz Speech Time Nao Pleez
3) The Pussification of America

Do0d, when in doubt, get self-referential.

Your topic lies before you and lives within you: It's hard to give a speech when you can't come up with a topic.

Document your brain freeze, your sad search through the desert of ideas, your desperate outreach to a forum full of computer nerds, and then your Eureka moment when you finally realized your dilemma was your topic!

Hmm.. I actually like this idea. But I need to come up witha claim of fact or a claim of value for this...this could work...

Perknose's got it.
Find something that you might consider yourself correcting or debating with someone in real life easily in social conditions. Something that you can continue talking about from your extensive first hand knowledge in the topic.

Then build your speech choice from there. It will save you the time in researching along with giving you a quick start.
For example, if you're here on AT, you probably knew of computer hardware of some kind at some point. Convince someone to buy a mouse or CPU and why.

Or why your audience should build a gaming computer vs. buying Alienware / standard prebuilt crap.

EDIT:
I'd do one favoring abortion.

EDIT2:
Or allow concealed carry on campus.

Something you know a lot about and possibly something you enjoy.
It will make giving your speech MUCH easier.
And since you asked such a simple question I assume you need to go back to basics.

EDIT:
I'd do one favoring abortion.

How about:

The real reason why abortion is opposed is because those who oppose it want to punish women for their immoral sexual behavior by forcing them to raise a child or put it up for adoption, not because they give a crap about the life of the fetus.

Very good! Quality post as always from Kadarin 🙂

Just put some thought into things that interest you. I did mine on why the electoral college should be reformed.

Some other things that popped into my mind while reading this:
Why someone should be an organ donor
Why people should exercise more
Why people should wear sunscreen
Why people should eat healthy
etc.
