hmm havent seen that chart. probably ran through that article a bit too fast when i read it. your right, its better to save 28 bucks than to replace the 2 tricools on top. i would still get one for the front intake.

Yeah, it's only twelve pages, not hard to miss stuff. I didn't know where it was, but it is SPCR. If it isn't passive, it will have dBA@1m readings somewhere before the conclusion!

i can live with 30db, (with the p180's thickness)

That fan is probably identical to the TriCools that come with the case MINUS the TriCool's built-in 12-7-5V controller. Assuming it is, I can tell you that it's going to make easily audible noise unless it's connected via a controller that can throttle down its rate. IF it can be down-regulated, it can be made to run pretty quietly. I'm very happy with all the Antec 120mm fans that came with my P180, but none of them is spinning very fast at all.

There have actually been db measures of passive PSUs. No joke.

Well, if any parts make audible noise, then there should be. Like some mobos, I imagine some PSUs whine.

I'm considering orange or clear w/blue LED yate loons. Which of the two do you recommend?

I had a Thermaltake Thunderblade with blue LEDs on my CPU until I replaced it with a 120mm Panaflo. I must admit that I loved that blue glow emanating from the top vent. I miss it, but the reduction in noise was dramatic. Now I have a virtually silent PC.

I'd vote for the blue-LED model.
