need help overclocking my cpu with evga 680i mb!Please help me tech gods!!!

Hi everyone!!!
I started a brand new journey over the past 3 weeks.
I built my first computer!!!!I have been illuminated from the hell of buying from a major computer retailer with bad customer service..hint hint..lol.Anyway my baby is a beauty(I feel like I have given life!!!).
Here are the specs so I wont get hammered by the technical elite..

thermaltake armor jr. case black
ocz 700w power supply
evga nvidia 680i sli motherboard
intel core 2 duo e6400
zalman 9500 cooler
ocz high performance ddr2 gold 667mhz speed
2 western digital 250 gb sata harddrives
creative labs x-fi soundcard
xfx 7600 gt xtreme graphics card
plextor 716a dvd drive
lite-on dvd drive

I think that I covered the basics on the specs....so here is my problem.My computer is up and running perfectly(I keep patting myself on the back lol)but, I'm greedy and I want to overclock my cpu like the big boys!I have been googling like crazy but there isn't a complete
tutorial to overclock my cpu using this new evga board.

I want to get my cpu speed up from the stock 2.13ghz to at least 3.2ghz.I'm not that greedy..I know that I could go higher but i want to take baby steps.I have been reading the forums and I know that this can be easily done.I have tried doing it a couple of times myself through the bio's but all the timings and things are confusing.There are lots of tutorials but they are out dated and not made for overclocking with this MB.

So I ask my fateful brothers to help me in this quest.Is there a link to a specific walkthrough or can 1 of you help me out...please!!!!
I'm ready to get slaughtered by the tech savy elite.But remember before you walked the path of light...you had a teacher also..lol

Vcore = 1.41 = 1.37 after droop.

Change the Clockrate or FSB to 1600. Change the ram ratio to asyncronomous, change the ram speed to 667. Tada you have 3.2 GHZ.

I'm up and running easily at 3.2 ghz!!!
Now I have to figure out if I need to oc my memory from 667mhz speed to 800 mhz speed.How do I make my computer run silent??I'm thinking that it has something to do with the the fan speeds...but I'm not sure.When I get brave enough, I will go to 3.4ghz.Why?????Because this is America and I'm greedy lol!!!!!Any suggestions???

The fan on the chipset you should have added (the little one that comes in the box with those impossibly small screws,) that in itself is the LOUDEST part of your system. I am not sure if you are asking how to go completely silent since you simply cannot do that I will assume you want to just "quiet" down that beast.

First thing to do is in the BIOS to set at what temps you want the fans to start, what speeds to start at and at what temps to get them going faster. That way you can at least not have that turbine running full pin the whole time.

Also the mobo controls auxiliary fans like the CPU's and the case fans. Again set those to a desired speed. Also your video card will normally have a relatively loud fan on it so you can either lower it using software or replace the existing fan/heatsink with an aftermarket one made to be quieter.

Or you can go water-cooling for the CPU/chipset and GPU. There is still noise but maybe NOT as much. It is generally more involving and at times may require certain mods to your case ? though not necessarily. Also a good system tends to be pricey.

I was coming to post a similar thread but figured I'd piggyback yours if you don't mind.
I have a similar setup amnd run about ~42C idle right now. I'd like to try for 3.2GHz as well.

What were your cpu temps before and after goldlight? So you just did as Yoxxy suggested?

Just got home and wanted to try this but had several questions.

Do I need to change the FSB Memory Clock Mode to Linked?
The FSB Memory Ratio is on Auto. Choices are 1:1, 5:4, 3:2, Sync Mode.
WHich one is right?

Do I need to adjust the Memory Timings?

Also, I forgot to look to see where the vCore is in the BIOS. What is it under?

Edit: I have the Crucial 10th Anniv RAM btw.

Bobo kat its the zalman thats making all the noise.Even when i turn the knob that it came with to silent mode its still loud.I dont see any settings in the bio's to chage this.

Hum if it's the Zelman then that's weird. I still have my older Zelman on another system and it's practically silent. You sure it's working correctly, nothing bent or touching and that it's sitting tight and not moving? Is it actually a loud fan noise or is it a vibrating kind of metal on metal sound?

Anyhow if that is the only thing, it would be easy enough to fix by getting something else or reapplying the HS/F. Generally though it?s a combination of fan noise from a number of sources ? and the goal of many is to try and silence or at the very least address each individual fan and work to make them quieter.

Yeah its the zalman Bobo kat.
And maybe I'm too idealistic...thinking that me my computer will be totally silent.
But it sounds like a fan is running...even when I turn the device knob to silent mode....I can still hear it.I didn't see any options in the bio's mode of my evga 680i board for fan speeds.Its louder than a buzz...but it sounds like I'm running an actual house fan lol.
