Need help optimizing MB bios

I have a Fic 503+ (via). I have th original bios it came with (35). I flashed to the latest bios and it screwed up my usb. So I went back to the old bios. Now this system runs slower...grrr. I have seen in the past articles on various websites that talk about opimizing the bios. But, I have forgotten where they are.Could someone point the way for me
