Need Help on which MB/Cpu/Ram to choose (SYSTEM)

Ok , I'm wanting to upgrade to the Intel 875P mb , 3200/dual400 ram but I'm growing tired waiting for the 2.6/800fsb cpu . Since the release for the CPU is slated for May 21 , I figure an easy 3-4 weeks after that before I could buy one so ............. Given the options below , please choose which you'd go with given the hardware listed .

BTW ........... I'm upgrading from an AMD 1.2 T-bird/MSI kt266A/2100 ddr (two long years later...........)

1 --- Intel 875P & 2.6/800fsb w/dual ddr400 (Do I wait)

2 --- Intel 850E & 2.66/533 w/1066 rdram (Buy now)

3 --- Intel 875P & 2.66/533 w/dual ddr333 (I figure I'll be able to buy the MB long before the 800fsb cpu which figures in the 2700/333ram) If I'm wrong , please say so.

4 --- Stick with AMD 1.2 T-bird (don't you dare) **LOL**

I appreciate any "EXTRA" input anyone has to offer .......... Thanks 🙂

IMHO, it is pretty much a waste to invest in a Rambus rig nowadays.

You could always just wait a couple weeks if you want bleeding edge.

So , would it be wise to go with number "3" & use the 2700ddr ? Or does 3200 far outclass the 2700 in terms of performance ?

If you go with option 3, I would not suggest the PC2700 memory. Unless you can guarantee the timings of course - small charge for good PC3200 and you can change the chip later - not to mention overclocking. If you wait you will pay a premium for the CPU but the mobo price will drop. based on the multiplier I would look more toward the 2.8 800 instead of the 2.6 but that is a budget issue. I would suggest waiting if you can but stay away from the 850E at this point.

Asus w/Granite Bay CS will hit all the high notes for some time to come.

As for PC3200 DDRAM, read the reviews on the Newegg site and see what strikes you as an acceptable price/preformance level.
Then, make sure you buy two sticks of it so as to take advantage of the Dual capabilities. 😀

smahoney --- Well I was thinking on purchasing the 2700 from Mushkin..... 2700 ddr

But I suppose for $20. more , I'll go with the Mushkin.... 3200 ddr

All rated at 2-2-2

I always go with Mushkin ram , as you don't have to second guess the timing issue . I may pay a little more but it's worth the "no hassles" in the future thing .
