Need Help on the Ship in Farcry --PLEASE--

PLEASE!!

I'm at the end of my rope. I've hit the chopper with 8 rockets and it just keeps killing me off.

How do you get past this stupid level?

I assume you're talking about the sinking ship where you have to blow that chopper up before it sinks? Just persistence. There's a really good guide on gameshark.com I think the cheapie way to do it is to keep the jeep on the shore and then jump off the ship and into the jeep and use its machine gun to make short work of the helicopter boss.
 
i jumped off the ship and swam to the boat on shore. I used the ship as a shield, always having it between me and the helicopter. shot plenty of rockets at the heli and took several tries. the bad thing bout jumping off the ship is that you lose alot of your health when the ship explodes so you have to dodge his machine gun.
 
I saw a lot of people saying jump off the ship, but I found a different way. After running to the front of the ship (make sure you have the rocket launcher) to avoid damage, immediately run towards the stairs. I jumped up on this ventillation shaft behind the roof to the room with the weapons and then jump up on the main roof. You should have plenty of time to run and shoot up there without being rushed. You then just pick your shots with the launcher until you damage the helicopter enough!
 
I used the grenade launcher on the assault rifle a few times from the ships wheelhouse, and that pretty much did the trick

yea that's what I did. if you are patient, you will succeed. shoot your rockets at the guy in the chopper and don't miss.
 
I had a hell of a time with this section, but finally beat it by:

1. Set the bomb in the front and IMMEDIATELY jump overboard and swim like hell for the shore. You prolly won't make it to shore, but if you're healthed up (check the wheelhouse) and almost onshore, the damage from the explosion is survivable.

2. As the chopper circles around, use the palm tree trunks as cover and when there are breaks in the chopper's firing, pop out and hit him with the rocket launcher. It takes 6-8 hits IIRC to down him, but it's easy to nickle and dime him this way.

The trees are better than the ship's structure because it's easier to circle around into cover, the canopy provides a screen and all shots only have to worrt about lateral movement and not vertical.

Hope this helps - it only took me 2 tries this way.
 
I thought it was pretty easy to just follow the directions, then run back to the boat's lobby before the helicopter comes. Then just hit it with the rocket launcher a half dozen times (at least on med. difficulty).
