the three way pioneers would probably sound the best.

the sonys are terrible.

if you didnt want the larger size i would do the polks.

see if you can find a pair of klipsch in that price range like the B-1's.

I got the Polks that are always going on sale at Frys/Outpost. I'm using them as my rears and they've been great IMO.

I'm pretty happy with the set of Athena B-1 s I picked up from ebay. If you're patient you can pick up a pair for $50 + $30 shipping. I got mine for slightly less (missing grills) and then contacted the company to get replacement grills ($15 for a pair).

Athena's are nice. Word is their AS series has better sound quality than their WS line. You'll have to keep an eye out on ebay because the AS-B1.2 is $120 + shipping new at Audio Advisor which is over budget.

I have a pair of Pioneer 3-ways I got at CC on sale for ~$115. They sound really nice

There's a guy in FST selling some Infinity Primus150s for 115 shipped i think?

Look around for Advent Heritage H200's on clearance or from anyone who bought them in the deal a few months ago. I picked up SIX of them for 107 shipped and they beat the pants off my R15s.

Hmm after reading through what you guys have said... I'm not really trying to spend $200 but I could wait... problem is my speakers are dying, so I would want what I'm gonna buy sooner than later. Why would the Pioneers be better than the sony?
Isn't a 1" tweeter with a 3.5/4 inch and the 8" woofer at the bottom better than just a 1" tweeter and the 8" woofer speakers?

I'm thinking this:
http://www.amazon.com/BIC-America-DV62s...-1269060-5214255?ie=UTF8&s=audio-video

Any objections?

polk r15's or the insignia's linked above. the insignias sound slightly better imo but they are too big for me, so I went with the r15's, only becuase I paid $30 for the pair

BIC America looks more botique quality kinda stuff though... I'm looking for studio quality sound.

you might want to put that in your OP then

any other requirements you might've left out?

even still, many at avsforum have compared the insignias to speakers costing $150+
