Hi

I`m just about to buy a new CPU, but I haven`t been up to date about the happenings in hardware for about 1 year. So I need ypur suggestions. I would need the CPU for 3D rendering, graphics...I use 3DSMAX 9 a lot, I don`t really care about games, the main thing is the rendering..I need a CPU that renders fast. I don`t know if I noticed it correctly, but I think that Intel processors are better at 3D rendering, I set my eyes on a Duo Core Intel processor, but I don`t know which one to buy. The max price should be $250 (MAX!).
Thank you very much!

well, both the Xnnnn and Qnnnn models are out of your price range.

That leaves the Core 2 Duos as you're only Intel option.

The E6600 Conroe@2.4Ghz is $227 at newegg, the E6700 Conroe@2.66Ghz is $320, but both are likely to come down a big leap when Intel releases the next line. When is that? I don't know.

as Blane and aCynic2 suggested, the Intel C2D E6600 is your best option. you should be able to get that easily to 3Ghz without a problem. 3DMAX really likes multiple cores so it will work quite well with this CPU.

Not soon enought to be worth the wait right now.
Rule of the thumb: You need computer parts, nuy them NOW, don't wait.

if you care bout rendering and can wait till august the q6600 (4 core 2.4ghz) should be in your price range, and while quad core is not a big deal for most users it does have some pretty serious advantages in rendering.

Hmm..well it pretty much looks like that I`ll head for the store in september..so I guess the Q6600 could be an option for me. I`ll ask you guys again a few days before shopping..I just wanted to know whats the situation at this moment. I guess Intel is the only real choice in the rendering field..
