5/14 - Purchased a Dell 20" 2005fpw Monitor
5/18 - 2005fpw arrives, notice some backlight bleeding
5/26 - Patch of dead pixels pops up, call dell for replacement.
5/31 - Replacement panel arrives. Says refurb right on the box, a few dead pixels, bad backlight bleeding, scratches on the lcd panel itself and on the base. I call dell and they are adamant that its a brand new monitor, which is clearly is not. I finally get her manager on the phone and she finally admits it might be a customer return, so she overnights me a new 2005fpw, and promises "it will be on your doorstep tommorow"
6/1 - Check the status online and it shows shipped, but arrival date is 6/3. I call fedex and they confirm and say not only did dell ship too late at night, but they have an arrangement w/ dell that overnight can be 2-3 days....
6/1 - I chat will dell online and she will not guarantee that i can get my money back if this replacement is bad, i am cutting it really close to being 21 days when the next one arrives...

This is a quote from the chat;
"Joshua, I can not assure you on the full credit on the return, but then I request that you wait for the monitor and if there are any issues then you can get back with the reference number that I will give you and we will issue the credit. "

I asked her to put it in writing that i will recieve full credit if im not happy with this 3rd lcd and she said she couldnt.

What should i do now?

Call fedex and refuse the delivery?

UPDATE: glad i didnt refuse delivery, i FINALLy got a good one... thanks guys

That's a shame... I got my 2005fpw, and it's absolutely perfect. No bleeding, no dead pixels, and bright and crisp as hell. The perfect LCD. Don't refuse the delivery; hopefully you'll get a good one. I think you've just had bad luck.

refuse delivery works when its a new purchase, i don't know about a warranty replacement. wouldn't you be stuck with the old monitor then?

Accept the new monitor. If it is what they promised, keep it and send back the other (s). If its not, get on the phone and climb so far up their asses you can lick their tonsils. I dunno what the problem is. You are the customer, explain it to them.

While in theory this should be correct, when you speak to them, it never seems to be the case...

You need to start your own forum. Everytime you need to make a decision or buy something you make a thread about it.

This "drama" you are having with this stupid LCD has gone on long enough. Please just stop posting about it.

I say accept it, assuming it's not a refurb this time. It's there and it may be perfect.

Call them, and bug them until they agree to the full return. They're dicking you around horribly and sending you bad units, not your fault if you go past the 30 days or whatever.

If they refuse to allow a return if this third one is bad, then tell them you're going to refuse the package and you expect the credit back, or you'll have your bank/ccard company do it for them.

If they agree to the return if the third one is bad, accept it, check it, then deal with it.

Josh,

Nothing personal and please do not take this the wrong way.

You've created how many threads regarding this? I recall you saying before you're fed up with this and are going to get a refund?

You should:
1) Refuse delivery.
2) Get a refund.
3) Do not buy another Dell LCD, get a Samsung or Planar.

If you get a replacement that's at least acceptable, you could use it for awhile and then call Dell up later and tell them the monitor is defective because of dead pixels and/or backlighting problems, and they should send you a replacement under the 3 year warranty (not the 21 day satisfaction policy).

I say call them up later because hopefully in the future they will have improved the 2005fpw to the point where there are no backlight issues, and you would be eligible for a replacement for one of these new ones because of your 3 year warranty on the original. If that one is bad (but at least acceptable), wait awhile and try again. I read on some board someone went through like 5-6 of these before he got a perfect one.

I ordered a 2005fpw a little over a week ago and it has some backlight bleedthrough. I called Dell up and the 2nd CSR I spoke with was apparently familiar with this issue and, after asking me to perform only one diagnostic test, said Dell would send me a new one with an enclosed return shipping label for the old one. She specifically said a new one, not a refurb when I asked, hopefully that will be the case. It should be here today or tomorrow. I guess this is highly dependent on which CSR you get though, as the first one was having me make all kinds of pointless adjustments to the monitor.
