hi i'm luca, from rome,
i've got my new 700E cb0 very stable at 933/133 in windows applications (lots of runs of CCWinstone), and in almost all d3D games (3dmark2k never locks up).
but when i'm looping quakeIII after 30-40mins i've always an error msg from the Q3 'blue-screen loader':

"Z_Malloc: failed on allocation of 1904216 bytes"
(quake3 close and return to windows)

the system NEVER freeze, it only show this problem.
I've always got this kind of problem even at 1.80V.

ok. Have I reached the limit of my Micron PC100??
or just my CuMine is not stable at such high freq?
or what???
if someone can help me I really appreciate.

my system:
abit bh6 1.1 (sp bios)
128MB micron pc100 cas2 @ 133MHz 3-3-3
coppermine 700e cb0 @ 933/133
secc2 not-so-big heatsink w/ 6000rpm fan + exhaust case fan
asus v6800.

This is most likely a heat problem. I suggest improving your case ventilation. One exhaust fan, but no intake fan is simply not adequate for an OC'd CPU. I trust that you did use thermal paste on top of your CPU and that your HSF is specifically designed for an FC-PGA CPU. If not, remedy this by applying a thin layer of thermal transfer paste, and get a copper shim if you have an ordinary heatsink.

To check if it is really heat related, just open your case and let an ordinary house fan blow into it and see if it locks then.

my case is open,
and temperature is not hot tonight (20°C).

and the heatsink is NEVER hot, due also to the big air flow.

i've just tested the same quake3 loop with the 882/126 @ 1.75V and.....
sic..
the same error msg from the quake3 loader.
wtf.

a 700E cb0 not running stable @ 882????
there should be something wrong in my system.
really don't know what.

wtf,
i cant't believe.
i've repeated the same test at DEFAULT clock/voltage and cas3 (looping q2arena) and i've got the same type of error msg by the q3loader:

"failed allocation in xxxxxx byte".
mh,
i'm not sure if this 'failed allocation' ALWAYS OCCURS IN THE SAME BYTE. But it could be. (i'm going to verify this).

but if is true...
what should i think??? my Micron cas2 stick is gone?

cooling shouldn't be the problem at this speed/voltage (thermal paste + standard (adapted) secc2 heatsink + high speed fan + outtake case fan + open case).

or maybe the problem is my oem fcpga slocket (7$)??
or what?

Garrison,
see if you can borrow real PC133 ram & try that Quake3 test again.

agp bus speed...
memory problem...
heat...
all things that seem to be the cause of my problem.
even at default speed.

but i've just replaced my 700e with my old Celeron 525/95 and...
s a m e p r o b l e m.
i'm disappointed.
same msg from the q3loader: "failed allocation in 1943243bytes".
yes. the FAILURE OCCURS ALWAYS IN THE SAME BYTE.

then i replaced the Micron module with a 64megs OEM one.
i really cant believe.
s a m e p r o b l e m.

now i'm seriously thinking that the failure occurs in the loop application.
i'm using a .bat file downloaded from internet.

thank guys for help.
but i think i'm going to post a new topic.
