Need Help on Camera

Alright, I'll get down to specific:

1. Whats the difference between 35mm slr, film slr, digital slr??

2. I am seeking an slr to do the following: in order of importance:

- Night time shooting
- Landscape shooting (both day and night)
- Capturing moving objects
- Snap shots
- Taking pics while im moving
- Black and White
- "Artisitc" (enchance, isolating main target forward, background blurred, etc)
- Wide shot, close up
- Night club, crowd pics

3 - I am just seeking the SLR body as I will purchase the lens(es) seperately and flash(es?).

4 - im fairly new to photgraphy but not to cameras, 5 years of TV production, im hoping I can transfer alot of my knowledge, technique(s) over.
Im also, looking, but not MANDATORY to take pics while my obecjts (humans) aren't aware im taking thier pics..
I intent to go to skid row in Los Angeles or Little Haiti or other parts of Downtown in miami, near Wolfson Campus and show the poverty without knowing the homeless people or anyone else for the matter knowing im taking thier pics.. thus im assuming if its digital slr you guys recommend, than a Dslr that has a lcd view to do snap shots and whatnot "incognito" style.
but this isnt mandatory... its just a plus for me.

however, night time and landscaping are mandatory.. Once I return back to miami, I will be going to the everglades camping every 2 weeks, so I would love to take pics of the wildlife and the nature surrondings.. as well if possible, during the leotoid meteorshowers and anythign else of gothic/sppoky places I know of in Florida.

My budget is open, I am fully aware lenses, lighting kit I intend to buy and flash(es?) + slr body will be costly..
I really doubt I need the latest, greatest slr.. so I would like to avoid unecessary $$$ for features I wont use or perks. I would like to save enough money than splurging on too much.
thus no high end, nor low end.. more like mid-mid or mid-high slr...
Unless I can go low end slr but high end lenses... dont know... whatever is more efficient on producing great quality of image.

1. Film SLR / 35mm SLR = same thing. 35mm film camera with interchangeable lenses

DSLR = same as above, but it's a digital camera - uses an imaging chip and some sort
of flash storage, rather than 35mm film. Everything else is nearly identical, other than
the fact that a digital SLR is probably a little heavier than an equivalent film camera

For your needs, I think a Digital SLR would work a lot better than a super-zoom point and shoot. The pictures come out better, especially at higher ISOs, which is something you'll need with moving shots and/or night-time or dim light shots. I'm not all that terribly experienced in photography myself; at this point it's just a little hobby. But I've had 2 point and shoot digitals that I loved. Then I bought a Canon 350D last spring, and they've been collecting dust ever since 🙂 I love that camera.
