actually, with the iPOD mini being released, you might be able to find people unloading their 1G/2G ipods for something smaller like the Mini

You might also consider a Minidsic player, like the MZ-N505 or MZ-NE410. Both can be had for under $100, and each disc can hold several hours of music. Downsides are that the software that comes with it isn't all that great, but it can be dealt with.
Amazingly, my N505 gets about 35-45 hours playback, from 1 AA battery, considering that there are moving parts inside. Also, I've been using it at the gym while working out (not too much cardio though) for about 6 months, and it still works like the day I bought it.

dont you have to convert mp3 into artec files? how long does it take to transfer a song?
for example, my mp3 player takes about 4 seconds to transfer a 10mb mp3 file.
and how many songs can a disk hold?
i am surprised it can play 35~45 hours! mine does about 13 hours with AAA. but there is a big difference between AAA and AA![]()
