he is not going to over clock and will mostly playing games some light photoediting and burn cdr and dvds

how does that look ? only thing is the motherboard i like asus alot has lots of good features is there anything better and cheaper ?

also how long do you think this system will last for gaming ?

I got the vnf4ultra from chaintech. It's cheap ~$85, and is very good. It doesn't have firewire, so if that's needed, then look elsewhere.

i like the chaintech one too but im afriad they wont release bios for future cpu suport

great system he will run it on stock and down the road if he wants to
overclock he can just get a better HSF and he will be all set

i dont know if monarch made a mistake :-(

I know the chaintech s1689, which is a cheaper 939 mobo($69) which has agp, supports venice w/o bios update. I read that on pcper.com forums. So if the cheap chaintech board supports venice...

Usually, I think you do. Some may come from the factory Venice-ready though. I'm still not sure what will happen if you use a Venice core in a MB without a bios revision that supports it, but I think it'll probably boot and simply misdetect the cpu as a different core. If it doesn't boot at all, then you'd need a previous A64 chip to get the system to boot in order to flash the bios.
