Need Help on a Rendering PC

Hello,

I need some advice on building a new rendering PC for my wife which uses 3dmax, vray atm.

Our current P4 PC cannot render anymore and will always freeze/take a very long time

then restart! so I was wondering if someone can give me some suggestions on building a

new rig at good price that will work with this task as well as some video games that I

often play online, if that is even possible!

For rendering in Max you need CPU power & RAM; a nice I7 - 930, 6 GB RAM, (maybe 12) a fast hard drive or SSD. Until this week I was using a Quadro FX4800 for video, but have since gone to dual 480 GTX's to take advantage of Octane's GPU render engine. I have not noticed any degradation in view port performance/fidelity with the 480's.

You should be able to get all that for $2500 with ease.
