need help ocing p3 450

Hey guys

I just got a p3 450 and i want to oc it, been reading a lot of articles but no one really cleared up any of the confusion as to what board(specifically) and memory(specifically) and heatsink(specifically) because i want to push this chip to 600mhz using 4.5x133.

if you have a system setting like this please share your specifics and info.
anyhelp is greatly appreciated.
 
i did some research online and some people actually have theirs higher than 133fsb with good heatsink and cooling(air).

the problem is that no one seems to post their full specs, so i can get a good feel for what products i need to accomplish this 133fsbx4.5 task. I tried putting it in bx6-2 board and booted up as p3 600e or b forgot. but hanged as it is bout to boot up into windows.

and i don't know if the i440bx is my only choice for this oc. so someone w/ more experience can correct me.

 
one more thing, does anyone know of a cooler for secc2 or pII/III heatsink that actually touches the cache next to the cpu, because i think it helps out alot if it was touching the cache to cool it down if i'm gonna run 133 fsb.
 
it would be a 600B.

b = 133mhz bus speed
e = 256 advanced transfer cache (full speed on die l2 cache) vs 512 running at 1/2 speed off die.

i have a 733 (5.5 * 133) that is the proper stock speed, and with my aopen ax34u mobo i can change the fsb form 124 - 150, but 133 is fine for me

am i missing something, because i can't relate to your message as to how that can help or not help the question i'm asking... mean no offense to you but .....

still looking for answers as to which motherboard should i use to do it with. the bx boards or that apollo 133a pro.
 
The BX line of chips are by far the best for what you want. Some of the earlier ones were not the best overclockers but many consider the BX line the best chipsets intel ever produced. I would stick with what you have as buying anything else just wouldn't be very cost effective and taking it as high as you can. 550 is a more realistic goal but I wish you the best of luck getting it up to 600.
 
A p3-450 'Might' make it to 600. The 450 was on the .25 micron process (coppermine?)....and the best intel was able to eventually wring out of it was 600mhz. Is it a slot or socket processor?

Get a good overclocking bx board with 1 mhz increments from 100 to 133, in case you don't quite make it.

The apollo pro was good too, assuming your processor is socket

I don't know what board to get, this website still has plenty of old bx board reviews, check them out.
 
well i got to to boot at 2.20v from stock at 2.0v

on a be6-2, but my temps is screaming, didn't know these babies oc so hot.
i'm at 60 c up which is really high and i have standard cooling.

the thing is it will boot into windows at 581 mhz but will only post at 600 then can't boot into windows, wat am i missing


post at 4.5x133 with 2.20v and 2.30v temps are like 50-60 degrees

at either configuration it won't load windows xp.

any more advice/help?

my chip is SL364 which is consider not a good oc choice 🙁 poor me.
