need help... new system

i'm having trouble with a new system i just built.

mobo: asus a7n8x deluxe
cpu: athlon xp 3000+ and coolermaster copper heatsink/fan
vidcard: radeon 9800 pro 128mb
HD: WD 120gb 7200rpm
power: Allied 400W max

Also have optical drives, floppy drive, sound card, scsi card, and 512 ddrram pc2100

my problem is that when i turn the computer on, i get no display. the internal speaker does not beep, and the IDE activity light stays on (no flashing), and the floppy drive light stays on. all the parts seem to work fine... i've checked the vidcard several times and it is seated properly. the monitor works because i have tested it with my laptop and another desktop system. If anyone can offer me some advice or point me in a certain direction it would be appreciated. I made a startup disk to flash the bios but i can't work it without the display. please help if you can

Reseat the RAM. Reseat the CPU and check for bent pins. Disconnect all drives and remove all cards except the video card. Clear CMOS. Take motherboard out of the case and try it sitting on a box or foam to ensure it's not shorting out on the case somewhere. If you have more than 1 stick of RAM, try them one at a time.
