Need help networking two PCs

Like it says guys, I just built a new pc and I need most of the files from my old PC onto my new one. My friend said I could borrow his hub and that I could transfer the files that way. Well, I have everything hooked up, or atleast I think I do, but with everythign wired up neither of the PC's show any sign that they can actually communicate with each other. Both of them use 2kPro and I tried to configure the network settings but nothing has worked yet.

Oh, and it's a Netgear FE108 8 port 100Base-tx ethernet hub.

Any help would be nice, thanks guys.
