Need help: Netbook windows 7 install

Picked up a netbook from south america recently, it's a no-namer brand.

It's got windows XP Spanish installed,
Couple usb ports
SD card slot.
No cd/DVD drive.
Can boot all the usb options, or so it seems.

I've got:
4gb usb stick (which comes to 3.6-7x gb after partitioning),
2gb SDcards max
250gb external usb drive
No external dvd drive
Windows XP english installs
Windows 7 32bit install (4+ gb)

One thing is that there are 2 partitions on that netbook, which I want to merge and put it all into one.

Anyone have any opinion on how to do this so I can get a fresh load of 7 onto it? Painlessly, that is.

First, I'd setup Gparted on a thumb drive, and repartition the HD as you like. Then load Win7 on a thumb drive, and install from there. Google should be able to help with that part; I've never done it myself. If you're unlucky, and Win7 isn't supported on your hardware, I'd install XP from USB. You should be able to find instructions on that also. There's also Linux. Ubuntu works nice on netbooks, but it depends on what you want to use the machine for.

specs will help a lot.

anyway, if its old then I would recommend XP. this is because of driver support. Win 7 is great but will have pain if you're device do not support your it.

Specs would help, but netbooks aren't that old. I'd expect any of them to support Win7, but you never know.

Sweet, thanks guys I got it up and running. Basically did gparted with an eng XP to test some general xp drivers and stuff and wiped out the partitions, then I used that microsoft ISO tool to extract the iso image and installed 7 over it.

Working great right now!

As for the specs, not much really to say. There's no model. Brand is called mini laptop, uses atom n280 and 1gb of ram, intel gma.

I'd imagine the worst thing about this netbook is that the keys, it's horrible to get used to. Took a pic for fun. Never buy a spanish keyboard layout unless you know what you are in for. Good thing I'm not the one destined to use it, now I know why those hispanic guys have weird keyboard typing habits (no offense to any amigos around here!)

Yeah, I figure it has to do with electronics economy over there.

From what I'm told most of those guys are a generation behind us for the average middle class. They've just got into quad core technology 😱
