So a friend of mine enlisted my help naming her new fish. She's got three of 'em, and at first she wanted to name 'em with some sort of theme luck involved theme. I suppose they're lucky fish? Perhaps luck in various languages? Nah. Synonyms. Eh, nah. Then I was thinking about just themes involving trios. The Three Muskateers, etc.. Just need some ideas! Let's see what the unbridled wit of ATOT can come up with! Thanks!

If you don't care which one's which you get the benefit of all the names being accurate...eventually.

I have too, but all my saltwater fish get names. I've had my percula clown and bangaii cardinal longer than one of my dogs and my cat, they have to have a name!

Anyway, what kind of fish are we talking about here?

I've kept fish for well over 30 years. I always named my fish; stupid, stupid, stupid, and stupid.
(it's true...for the MOST PART, fish are stupid creatures and do stupid things in an aquarium...if they weren't stupid, they wouldn't have been caught!) ;)

My wife on the other hand, ALWAYS gives my fish names...cute names, funny names, names based on color or markings, etc. (even when they don't make sense)

(Marine hobbyists will probably realize that saltwater fish (larger ones especially) tend to be smarter than freshwater fish and often have great "personalities," recognize their owners, recognize the feeding bowls or containers, and will act out to get your attention)

I kept a pair of oscars for a few year and they knew who I was. When I was in the room, they would swim around. When somebody else came with me, they would hide. They would even beg for food.

My african cichlids also seemed more intelligent than normal fish.
