Mods, if this isn't the right forum for this post, please let me know and move it to an appropriate forum. Thank you!

As all good things must come to an end, so do my website and forums with Ross...

I have signed up with Ripplehost, and have no idea where to start when it comes to transferring over all my files, folders, etc. If necessary, I can start from scratch and re-upload my website files (images, pages, etc.) one by one, but what I'm most concerned about is the forums. I don't want to lose any of the users or posts...

If anyone out there would be willing to go on IM with me and basically hold my hand through the process, I will be forever grateful.

A million thanks in advance...

You can use a program like SmartFTP (=free) to 'fxp' (=FTP direct between sites) the files from one site to another. Both sites have to permit FTP and FXP has to be supported. You can drag/drop w/ SmartFTP.

Now, with forums and such the new site has to support the scripts and what not for them to work again, so, I can't help there but it may be worth trying. Worst case, you can just delete the new site and try another method.

There should be an option within your Administration panel of the forums to backup the database.

Check... under "SQL Management", I clicked "mySQL Back Up". Now it reads:

Add backticks around the table name?
(if you get a mySQL error, enable this) Yes No

Skip non essential data?
Will not produce insert rows for ibf_sessions, ibf_admin_sessions, ibf_search_results, ibf_reg_anti_spam. Yes No

GZIP Content?
Will produce a smaller file if GZIP is enabled.
Yes No

Should I select yes for all of them and then click "Start BackUp"?

No, he's too busy. :( I don't want to bother him anymore, although he has been incredibly helpful. He's given me a little more time to move everything before it's deleted from his server. Thanks Ross. :)

Unfortunately I don't have any FTP software on my computer (at work), and I can't download or install any program on my computer without administrative access. I don't have Internet access from home, so everything is done here... but thank you for the suggestion.

Anyone can do it. Find someone you trust (preferrably someone who knows FTP and FXP stuff) and ask them to do it for you.
I think dman's idea should work.

You can ftp from IE... did you know that?
It is not exactly the best ftp client around, but it is a good quick and dirty way of transferring stuff in case of the emergencies...

Really??!! No, I had no idea that was possible... how would I go about doing so? I have to move all my files from Ross's host by the beginning of May, so I'm hoping to have that done asap...

Give me a PM... I can help you when I get home tonight (2 hours)... I've worked with IBF a lot.

Does Rossman and Ripplehost give you SSH access?

I've PMed you two times since your last response and you haven't said if you still need help or not. Just let us know what's going on...
