My second SATA HDD is going bad. Its about 160GB while my boot SATA drive is about 80GB. I am trying to install a third 250GB HDD and looking to transfer the 160GB data over to it.

The problem is the third drive is not being recognized. Its installed on the secondary SATA master connector and spins but isn't recognized in the bios or in windows.

Any ideas on what is wrong or what I should do?

Thanks.

Most likely it has a Sil3114 SATA controller, you have to install the drivers and then sometimes go to the disk management to activate it (in admin tools). I've had similar issues, it can be frustrating. BTW, you should post specs so we can give more suggestions.

Thanks for the help

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3000+
Motherboard: Asus K8V Deluxe
Memory: 1024 MB of Kingston/Mushkin PC3200 DDR
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Hard Drive: Seagate SATA Barracuda 80.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS
Additional Hard Drives: Seagate 160GB
Monitor: Sony G500
CDR/CDRW Manufacturer & Model: Plextor 12/10/32
DVD R/W: NEC-ND-3500A 16X DVD-/+R/W

I'll try the driver route. That secondary SATA plug has never worked for me, even in the past with only 2 drives.
