Hi jwise, Welcome to the forum!

OK, you followed their specs and still doesn't? What? You forgot to say and went on to ask for suggestions. If you can be more specific about what you did, what happened, any beep codes etc, we can help.

sorry, i set the mainboard cpu speed dip switches to the correct setting and when i turn on the pc i hear "no cpu found or incorrect type" or something close to that and nothing happens, the monitor is blank. also, the original cpu was a duron 850

It sounds to me as if you need to do some research on static electricity before you buy another processor.

Okay, I just thought of something. Are you sure that you didn't forget to plug the heatsink's fan into the motherboard? Most new motherboards won't boot, if there isn't a fan plugged into the motherboard's "cpu fan" plug.

Sorry i've been unable to get on the web. anyway, yes i had the fan pluged in. it works fine. i can install my old processor and it fires right up but the new one won't. i need help
thank you
