Need help install ssd

I am using win 8.1, added the 240 g ssd and gave it drive letter in disk management, then used macrium to clone my hard drive onto it, now disk shows in my computer as drive f with correct files on it. Now I shut down, unplug hard drive and reboot, in ufei bios I select achi and new ssd shows in boot sequence. When I reboot get message OS not found. Rechecked bios and the ssd is still listed but will not boot. Thank you for any assistance.

I've installed 3 SSD's in the past week. Here's my process:

1.) Install SSD in external enclosure
2.) Plug enclosure into USB port
3.) Download/install Acronis true image: http://www.acronis.com/en-us/person...=38359020617&gclid=CMGi1u2C1b4CFUiEfgod24sA5g
4.) Select the source as your current C:
5.) Select destination as your SSD in external enclosure
6.) You will be asked to reboot... do so at this time
7.) Acronis will run... once it's complete, shut computer down
8.) Install SSD in computer and remove old harddrive

Never had a problem, granted there's the inconvenience of buying/using an external enclosure.

Good Luck!

I read this somewhere and it worked-- booted in ide rebooted in safe mode as achi, removed safe mode then booted in achi.

Yeah - you should have changed to AHCI before cloning. You got there through the backdoor. 🙂
