Need Help in Identifying Processor

Hi Everyone,

I recently bought a Pentium 233Mhz w/MMX Socket 7 processor. When I try to run it, I can only get a max speed of 166Mhz. I played around with the bus and realized that the multiplier was locked at 2.5. According to my calculations, a Pentium 233Mhz processor requires a multiplier of 3.5. The speed isn't imprinted on the processor so I was wondering if anyone can identify it based on the numbers on the processor:

Intel Pentium w/MMX tech

Thanks for your time!

did you buy that motherboard specifically for the processor, or is your motherboard just an old thing hanging around?

The motherboard previously was using an AMD P166R or 133Mhz socket 7 processor. The owner wanted it to be upgraded. I download the manual and it says the motherboard supports up to 233Mhz including MMX processors so I got one from a fellow AnandTecher. I tried all the mutliplier and freq's. I can not get it faster than 166Mhz. It could be the board, but I don't think so because I tried it on my other board and the max was 166Mhz too.
