I'm looking at purchasing:

LG GSA-4040B

OptoRite DD0203

I just want a DVD burner that can burn both + and - R/W's so as to provide complete (or at least close as possible) compatibility with my standalone DVD players. I will be transfering home video to DVD and distributing it to family so a broad range of compatibility is a must. I will probably make some backups of some of my heavily watched DVD's. HDBurn isn't that big of a deal for me. Price is an issue (would like to stay under $120.00 or so.

I'm a little leary of the Optorite because of all of the 'problems' some people have described. But i'm not familiar with LG other than TH's review.

Does anybody have direct experience with either of these? What are your thoughts (pros/cons). Any other recommendations?

Thanks for any help you send my way!

Plextor's rock (I had several of the 8x CDRW drives from ages ago that burnt ANYTHING:)) but it's way out of my price range.

Great! I have an Apex (daughter's) and a Sony DVP-S300 so that's good news.
