Guys, I am building a new rig with the following stuff:

athlon x2 3800+
DFI Lanparty NF4 ultra-D
OCZ 2GB (2x1GB)
Sapphire X800 GTO^2
Seagate 7200.9 160GB SATAII
NEC ND-3540A
Sony DVD ROM Drive DDU1615 - for movies
Sony fdd
WD 250GB SATAII
Antec PlusView II case
dell 2005fpw ( already received it yesterday - haven't seen anything like it - one of those things for which the word "awesome" really makes sense )

and now the power supply:

OCZ 520W Powerstream

This PSU is burning a big hole in my already empty pocket. I'd really appreciate it if somebody would suggest a cheaper- same quality PSU. www.dfi-street.com suggests a 480W PSU w/ +12V@26A or more at the least.
Besides I'm gonna overclock and will prolly add anotehr hdd in 6 months so 480W is the least i need. I can find many 480W PSUs for a lot cheaper but the problem is +12V rail ampere ratings...most PSUs have less than 20A.

Hopefully, somebody out there is running the same motherboard w/ overclocking and can save me some money by suggesting another PSU. TIA.

I run a 7800 GTX, 3000 venice and DFI Ultra-D with the Enermax 420watt. It's got 18 amps on each 12v for a total of 29amps, and should be plenty for your system. Link

okay, after some more research I've found that Antec SmartPower 500W SP-500 PSU is probably the best bang for the buck.

Please let me know what you guys think of this one. Need quick replies....will buy today.

ribbon, thanks for that link - looks like a nice PSU but again, why not spend another 20 bucks to get the best of all - ocz powerstream 520W - my initial choice. Hell, if i'm spending more than 100 bucks why not go all the way and buy the quiet and efficient Seasonic 600W S12-600, rite?

I'd love to reccomend the spectacular S12-600 for the best overclocking 939 board out, but those two particular items early revisions didn't jive.

I'm sure if you order it from case-mod.com you'll get a revision a02 or later and wont have any problems.

I'm only using some Ultra X-connect 500w. It was fairly cheap and looks sweet. (not the highest quality PSU though, mind you)

Antec has let me down the past years. And the amount of complaints about them has risen quite a bit lately. And that PSU has 2 fans. Not something that usually points to a quiet psu. But that doesn't mean it won't work perfectly for you.

the antec tpII 550's power my 3 dfi rigs. never a problem. you can usually pick one up ~90-100 at buy.com with a 10% coupon.

the smartpower is used by alot of peeps at dfi.street.

fortron has a nice one on the recommended list but i forget which model it is.

that is the same PSU I just picked up, it is working on my old system quite well, no problems at all.
