Need help in buying new PC for 1000 dollars and under

Would like to spend around 1000 dollars on a new comp. Havent really followed computers much in the past 4 years so I am pretty clueless. I've done a little research on the site and found that I like the Abit KV8-MAX3 as a motherboard but i know it uses AMD 64 chips which are kinda pricey so not sure if i will be able to use this motherboard. I game alot so the ATI Radeon 9800 PRO is the videocard I want to get for sure. So how would you comp enthusiasts build a computer for 1000? Thanks for the help.

Motherboard - Abit KV8-MAX3 (this has a soundcard so I wouldnt need)
Videocard - ATI Radeon 9800 pro

Sorry about the post. I just found some very useful help in the hardware section of the forum. But any input is still appreciated.

If you have $1k budget...
RAM - Get 1 GIG of PC3200... if you want to overclock get higher end memory like OCZ Plat, or Corsair XMS, or PDP LLK/XBL. If you just want the system to run, any major brand PC3200 should do. 512mb is starting to cramp, while 2GB is still too much.
HDD - If this is purly gaming computer and not require ALOT of space (download box), then get a SATA RAPTOR drive. You'll appreciate the load time on games. If not, get any 7200 rpm, 8mb cache drive. I prefer Seagate for their 5 yr warranty. As for size.. it depends on your use... I think 160GB is a good size.
Soundcard - If you game there isn't really any other choice other than Audigy series.... Get the lowest Audigy 2 card.
