Need Help in Buying an external hard drive

Hey guys,

I need some help figuring out which external hard drive to buy to back up my laptop for school. I am planning on buying it sometime tonight so I need some feedback soon! I don't have a Firewire port so I'd be using USB, and I'd be using it to back up my pictures, music, and some Word files. I have a Dell laptop that uses Windows XP so I'd need something compatible. I need help figuring out what brand is most reliable, and if anyone could suggest a good working model that would be SO helpful. Thanks guys!

Yeah, they're pretty nice, but too bulky to carry with a laptop IMHO.

I'd suggest buying a slim external case (like an Adaptec Firewire/USB 2.0 combo case) and dropping a Seagate drive in there.

How big is your laptop HDD? I would suggest looking at an external 2.5" external drive case that could house a duplicate of your laptop's HDD. It could be linked by USB2, Firewire, or Wi-Fi. This is an interesting concept:

Office Depot product page does not show there is a rebate!!!!!
So when you do pricematch, they do not know they have a rebate if you place the order by calling 1-800-GO-DEPOT!!!
