I have lost track of an old high school buddy and have been totally unsuccessful in finding him using the obvious methods (type name into search engines/various people search engines/etc). Anyone have some good ideas for free methods to find a person? Online databases...anything? I'm willing to go with one of the "Find anyone for $xx.xx!!!" services if need be, but I'd like to do some digging myself before resorting to this. I know where he went to college, dug up some publications and even talked to his undergrad advisor with whom he co-wrote several papers, got as far as a move to VA and then nothing.

Thanks,
Fausto

How much does he owe you? ;)

Have you tried switchboard.com to check for a phone number in different states?

Have you tried looking him up at one of those alumni sites? Both High School Alumin and Classmates charge for detailed information but it is free to look up the names of people you went to school with. There's no way to know unless you pay what kind of additional info he listed but it might be worth the $10-15 to register with them.

Yup and yup. Like I said, I've tried all the usual methods. I'm to the point where I need a database to dig through of some kind of public records or something. Something more specific than phone or email...if you're not online much and/or don't own house, you won't show up on the kind of searches you guys mentioned.

Too bad, I usually have good luck checking for a phone number. Guess it's unlisted.
