Well I know how to hook it up. I was curious will it hurt the player/car if there is multi fuses hooked up to the wireing? See the MP3 player has a fuse on the memory and power cable. My old CD player didnt have these fuses so the guy who installed it wired up a fuse box(I guess thats what is) with the red, yellow and black wires coming out of it. So I assume its a fuse box.

Well will this hurt anything if I leave this box hooked up and just hook it to my MP3 player or does the box need to be taken off?

What should I do?

If you want your dash lights to dim you better hook it up.

If you leave them full on always, forget it.

EDIT___This wire most likely dims the display on your radio if you dim the dash lights....forgot to mention that

A lot of times it's not used. Just be sure to not leave any copper exposed and you can leave it hanging.

The "dimmer" wire (don't remember which one) is connected to the headlights/parking lights. When they come on, the display dims. This wire doesn't need to be hooked up for everything to work properly.

I'll see if I can find the install manual for my stereo and I'll let you know exactly what the wires are. :)

Yep, tape up the end so you don't short it out.

Ok did you change the whole thing from a dimmer wire to a fuse box?

If the fuse box was added in seperately then you probably don't need it on your new one. IMHO the only wire you need a fuse on is your constant power (yellow). Nowadays a lot of decks have the fuses hooked up to the rear of the unit as opposed to on the wire. It won't hurt to leave the fuse box hooked up but it's probably not necessary

Well like others have said I left the Dimmer wire unconnected. As for the fuse box(I guess thats what it is) I hate to cut it off the wireing harness if I don't have to thats why I am asking if I should or not.

should I cut this black box off or is it fine? I know how to hook a car player up I just ain't sure if extra fuses will hurt anything or cause the player to not power up right or something.

The black box has not only a fuse but a noise supressor. Don't cut it off. Mutliple fuses will never hurt anyone:)

yes its a filter...and the dimmer should be orange or brown depending on the deck....mulitple fuses are bad IMHO because it just adds to things to troubleshoot if something goes bad...when I was installing we would cut off everything including those filters...if you hook it right you wont need the thing

According to which player you got and the quality of the MP3 I suppose? But they sound good if you buy a good one.

Depends on how well the other electronics are isloated. All the installs I do, there's fuse in the fuse box for the radio and the one on the noise supressor.

Ok my car doesnt have a ground wire on the car wire harness or a blue power antenna. What would I hook my ground wire and it to? My car does have a separate ground wire that I screw to the side of the CD player case is that all I need to do?
