Ok, I am putting a computer together and when the computer posts it does not detect my hard drive. It gives me an error message: Boot disk failure. Please insert system disk. (or something similar). Could this be caused because I do not have a CD-ROM or a Floppy attached to the motherboard? The HD has been formatted and has a vaild working operating system on it, so I have no real reason for a CD-ROM or Floppy right now, but do I need one for it to work?

make sure that your boot sequence is on C if that is ur HD letter or press F8(whatever boot manger is ) to bring up the boot manager. Select hard drive. If all else fails format and pray!

U got the jumpers set up right? If it's a dual device cable, try switching the spot it's plugged in, sometimes that causes odd problems with things.
