OP: Maybe you should try KotOR. At your age you probably caught the tail end of the original trilogy phenomenon.
KotOR starts slowly, but really gets going after a while. I finished ir for the first time last year, I think, or maybe two years ago. It had been a while since I came home from work thinking "I need to play some more of that game".
