Need help getting an OS recognized on bootup...

Here's exactly what happens: I get the first error which says I cannot upgrade because it can't find the file, and the only button to click is OK, then I get the error than setup cannot continue because it could not detect the version of windows I'm running, with the only button being OK. Then, it just goes to a typical windows setup screen with 'back, 'next' and 'finish' buttons on the bottom, where the only one that is clickable is finish.
