I am trying to format my hard drive and i'm getting "Trying to recover allocation unit". What am I doing wrong? and what do I need to do to finish formatting?😕

This is an inidication that you have bad sectors on your hard drive. Not good. These babies tend to snowball once they get started. You might want to consider getting a new hard drive - they are pretty cheap these days.

Norton Utilities, System Works 2000 & 2001 have disk doctor program that can be run from DOS. If you have Norton installed and created its emergency boot disk then you can boot from that disk and see if you can run DiskDoctor on your C: drive. It should be able to fix any "file allocation errors" you may have on your hard drive.

You might have to run FDisk before attempting to format your hard drive if that does not work.😎
