I cant figure this out here fellas. I have maxtors Maxblast. But during the setup It wants a DOS disk? I dont have one. I have only fomatted one before. I really forget what I did.

im using maxblast beacuase I suck 😛 I really have no idea on how to do it with out a Disk. My disk was working but it must have gone Bad. Then I download a new Version of maxblast. But I get stuck in the program when it asks me for a dos disk. Agr Help

If you can get to a 98 or 95 machine, just go to the Add/Remove Programs control panel, and make a boot disc. The only reason it asks for this is to make your drive bootable to a DOS prompt so you can set up Windows or whatever.

Should work. But..... I have a really bad experience with OEM formatting utilities - sometimes they write something in the boot sector not accessible by DOS. Thus, repartitioning and reformating using DOS is nearly impossible - OS keep on calling for the OEM Utility. Ultimatelly I had to use Norton Disk Doctor (ol' DOS version!) and manually clean up the disk - that was pain. Since learning that, I NEVER use OEM disks to format the HD.

I also had bad experiences w/ OEM utilities (IBM Ontrack Disk Manager - installed a dynamic driver overlay, gave me probs with Ghost). Anyway, this might help. Not done, but has helped others.

thanks guys I got it all figured out now. I got maxblast to work without mouse support. I just had to use the 123 4 7 Up Down keys. Im not that good at DOS and stuff as you can see. Ide rather mod my PC. 🙂 But I wanna thank you all very much for you time.

EDIT: and I used the windows startup disk to load the CD rom support. it worked very well.

I think the problem was that all my Exaust fans were pulling to much dust in the A: drive making errors for me when trying to load this stuff. thats not an excuse for not knowing DOS and Fdisk. Thats something I have to leanrn. for now I will take the easy road out(Software). What can I say here. I bet I can mod case better than you? thoese are my real skills. I am not the shapest tool in the shead and I never said I was. So there 🙂
