I have been looking for some hardware that interacts with a pc that will allow me to View and record up to 3 cameras and allow for 6 total camera inputs. I am trying to have it set up so i can view 3 cameras that are in the front yard and 3 cameras that are in the back yard. I have a ati radaion 8500 DV which allows me to capture a video or s-video input. So i need a device that i can have the 3 cameras on one screen at a time. Any help?

if you get 3com HomeConnect PC Digital Cameras (best webcam ever made! - you'll have to buy them used on Eb@y, or @mazon)
you can view images from up to TEN of them using this software linky

the webcam's hook up to your computer via USB ports (get a USB hub)- you should be able to record to your computer from each camera.

images from the ol' 3com webcam are exceptional

software is free.

hope this helps.

pm if you have questions

otherwise, you might consider a hardwired video input selector box that lets you manually select which video camera will supply input to your capture card - go to best buy or circuit city and ask'em what they've got, or check out the used professional; video gear at Eb@y

not looking to go the web cam route want cctv cameras just becasue of better picture quality and better wear and tear thru the enviroment... Minnesota winters .... any ideas ?

You could fill your PCI slots with capture cards, and hook one camera into each one. Of course, you will need to have integrated everything for this to work. If you can find a capture card that has more than one input, then you will be much better off with this method.
