Need help finding an old thread

It was a while ago, about some dude who took plastic water bottles and used them as lamps to light up shacks in slums (or something like that).

It could have been a year ago, or two, or even three. I think a kid I know could use it for a report he's doing.

Does anyone remember this?

You're welcome. And not to rain on your parade, but it was in the to 10 google results for "plastic bottle light anandtech".

I understand that "google it" can get annoying, but it really does work 99% of the time.

Edit: It linked to the mobile version. I had to copy the title and then search again.

And it works better than the Anandtech Search 100% of the time. Seriously, the search sucked balls in FuseTalk and that somehow managed to find its way into the VBulletin implementation.

Forum searches seem to universally suck regardless of forum software. They've been too busy integrating the "social web" to spend time on it I guess. Gotta have those [Like] buttons :^S
 
Reading through the thread - it's not the thread I thought it was.

My memory is hazy, but I thought some posters with first hand knowledge of this stuff had written specifics about installation and whatnot. I must have followed the trail to another forum and read it there.

I can't believe I almost led a 12-13 year old kid here. That was dumb. What if he'd sent a PM to one of you guys on a bad day? Might have been scarred for life.

I'll tell him to google it.
